Galia Binder is a bridge-builder, future therapist, and seeker who believes healing happens in relationship. Galia joined SeekHealing as an MSW Community Care Intern after a career that included nonprofit leadership and work across initiatives focused on community arts, civic engagement, violence prevention, restorative justice, environmental justice, and community healing. Their work has consistently centered on creating spaces where people can connect more deeply with themselves, one another, and the communities they call home.
Previously, Galia created The Affirmative Project, a social practice art project and temporary intentional community that invited people from all walks of life to engage in creativity, vulnerability, and collective healing. This experience reinforced their belief that transformation often happens not in isolation, but between people.
Today, Galia is completing their Master of Social Work at Western Carolina University and pursuing a path toward becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. They are especially interested in group therapy, narrative healing, social health, decolonizing and Indigenous-informed healing practices, and Appalachian healing traditions.
When they're not working or studying, you'll likely find them wandering by their fish pond in Marshall, spending time with their husband Tim and loved ones, reading a sci-fi fantasy novel, or dreaming about future plans for an off-grid ecovillage.
